The sound you see is real
now the orphan has got his toys
but will that keep him quiet
if we slip away to dance ?
no we’d better take him with us
he’s edible

So the orphan’s gone with his mum and dad
he doesn’t know that their not his
assuming orphan wonders
little about show biz

and he didn’t hate the TV
because they weren’t around
and they came and went one by on
when the orphan came to town

It’s just like him not to speak
his gagagagagagas never come
“oh but darling I’m sure that he’d love a ride
on a gee gee” come on son

So the orphan understand though
he’s tasted what he’s touched
he doesn’t like his mummy or his daddy very much
he wants his doll Armstrong beside him
forever and ever and ever

Now the orphan has grown up
he must be twenty floors high
that’s not an awful lot though
when you’re just about to die

but he feels his empty life
like the petrol in a car
the bowsers have been on strike
for the past decade
ever since they pulled their fingers

Farewell our little orphan
getting smaller as you drop
remember how you taught you
when you had two legs to hop
at the hop ………..yeah hop

and he didn’t hate the TV
because they’d all left town
so they came and filmed one by one
the orphan on the ground
